5th and 6th had a great time in Clara Lara on the school tour. Despite a horrendous weather forecast, we didn't get a drop of rain until the bus home.

You know when parents ask their children what they did in school that day and sometimes their children can say 'Aaah....nothing', this blog post begs to differ! Such busy bees this term! In an attempt to catch up on activities that were neglected or missed during covid, we really pushed the boat out over the past couple of weeks: Cycling week, Forest School, Book Day and the choir competition all happened. 5th and 6th got stuck into the construction of the school bug hotel. As there was an uncharacteristic lack of communication between classes during the pandemic due to groups being obliged to stay in bubbles and normally classes would get together for all kinds of activities, we introduced some projects for the classes to meet up with each other. There are pictures below of a paired reading activity between Ms Breen's and Ms Walsh's classes and also between Mr Day and Ms Druhan's classes. The war in Ukraine has been ever present this year and we were delighted to be able to hand over more than €1000 to our Ukranian visitors. Make sure you all scroll to the end to find out how much money we made on the sponsored walk! WOW! A huge thank you to the whole community and to the Parents' Association for all the delicious strawberries and ice-cream on the day. Cycling Week:Forest SchoolPaired ReadingChoir CompetitionWe were thrilled to be placed in the AIMS competition in New Ross for the first time. It is our 3rd trip to New Ross for the competition. The adjudicators praised our diction, ability to sing legato and in parts and our overall sense of occasion. High praise indeed! Rounding off the trip with a happy meal is the icing on that cake! Bug HotelUkranian VisitSponsored WalkA whopping €2,600 was raised by children from all classes. This money will go directly toward the book rental bill which has seen huge increases this year. |
